National History Day in MN

On March 23, at St. Cloud State University, six Battle Lake sixth graders took part in the MN History Day Regional Competition.

All six of the students worked for months, planning, researching, writing, and completing their exhibits. The theme at this year’s event was Turning Points in History. It was a large project that took a lot of effort! They all were interviewed by judges about their projects, and they all did well. They learned so much throughout this project and did a wonderful job. Tobias Laven received an honorable mention award for his exhibit “Something Happened on the Motor State Route,” about how JFK’s assassination changed presidential protection. Claire Mansker made it to the state competition, that will take place on 4/20 at the Minneapolis Convention Center, with her Exhibit titled “How 9/11 Changed Air Travel”. She will have from now until the competition to look at her critiques and work to make her project even better!

Congratulations to all participants!
