BPA Earns Multiple Awards at Minnesota State Conference!

Battle Lake School had 15 students participate in the annual Minnesota Business Professionals of America (BPA) State Leadership Conference in Minneapolis, MN, March 5-7, 2020.

During the school year, over 1,700 Minnesota BPA student members take part in the organization’s competitive events program, allowing them to compete in nearly 60 events focused in the areas of finance, business administration, management information
systems, digital communication & design and marketing & communication. The competition is designed to prepare students to succeed and assesses real-world business skills and problem solving abilities. After qualifying earlier this year, regional winners put
their talents to the test during the State Leadership Conference.

Students receiving state recognition and advancing to National competition include:
Blake Alonzo – Basic Office Systems and Procedures (4th) & Intermediate Word Processing (5th); Kya Ambuehl – Administrative Support Team (1st); Fern Brackin - Advanced Word Processing (1st), Parliamentary Procedure Concepts (4th), Management, Marketing and HR Concepts (3rd) & Administrative Support Concepts (5th); Kayne Cameron – Advanced Word Processing (2nd) & Advanced Office Systems and Procedures (4th); Kate Christensen – Banking and Finance (3rd) & Personal Financial Management (2nd); Leah Koltes – Intermediate Word Processing (2nd) & Administrative Support Team (1st); Morgan Malone – Legal Office Procedures (2nd) & Fundamental Word Processing (4th); Jasmine Malone – Basic Office Systems and Procedures (3rd) & Administrative Support Concepts (2nd); Brian Seip – Administrative Support Team (1st); Wyatt Severson – Advanced Office Systems and Procedures (2nd); Makenna Tysdal – Advanced Word Processing (3rd) & Advanced Office Systems and Procedures (3rd). Also recognized as a finalist is Adysen Tysdal in Intermediate Word Processing.

This May, Kate Christensen, Fern Brackin, Kayne Cameron, Makenna Tysdal, Morgan Malone, Wyatt Severson, Jasmine Malone, Blake Alonzo, Leah Koltes, Kya Ambuehl and Brian Seip will travel to Washington, DC to compete with 5,500 top students from
across the United States at the 53rd Annual National Leadership Conference – the pinnacle of BPA competition.
