In April 2025, Claire Kraemer earned a place in the prestigious Minnesota Music Educators Association (MMEA) All-State Program, recognized as one of the nation’s top programs for developing young musicians.
The MMEA All-State Program brings together talented students from across Minnesota, offering them the chance to audition and perform with elite bands, choirs, and orchestras. Each year, thousands of high schoolers audition in March under the guidance of their music teachers. After rigorous judging this year, 628 students were chosen to join one of the seven All-State music ensembles.
Selected students attended an intensive camp in August, this year it was held at Concordia College in Moorhead. There, they spend long hours rehearsing with renowned conductors and coaches, further developing their musical skills. The camp also features fun recreational activities, allowing students to bond and build new friendships. The camp culminates with a concert showcasing their hard work and exceptional talent.
The journey doesn’t end there. In February, all three All-State choirs reunite to perform at Orchestra Hall in Minneapolis as part of the MMEA Midwinter Convention—one of the highlights of the Minnesota music calendar.
Claire reflected on the experience:
“On Friday, August 1, I returned from the 4-day MMEA All State Choir camp. I was a Soprano 2 in the SSAA Women’s All-State choir, surrounded by nearly 90 talented girls. Our director was amazing—funny, supportive, and always ready with stories. We sang five songs, with Singkap Siaga being a favorite thanks to its unique body percussion. The camp was full of great music and fun activities. I’m excited for the final concert in February at Orchestra Hall, where all the All-State choirs will share the stage!”
The MMEA All-State Program continues to inspire young musicians and strengthen music education statewide. For more details, visit the MMEA website. https://mmea.org/events/all-state/
