In lieu of a public gathering, here is something that you can view in your home to observe Memorial Day 2020.  Included:  A short address by Gerry Nelson which includes a list of the names of those Battle Lake veterans from The American Legion Paul Putnam Post 289 who passed away during the previous year. -  Jack Neese, Roy Ketcham, and Burton Hustad.  Gail Nelson reads the Cemetery Report listing the number of flags that are being placed on the veteran's graves in our local cemeteries this morning.  Then you can revisit portions of the Veterans Day Program from 2019 at the Battle Lake School.  You will hear the choir, which is directed by Shawn Neisen, and the band, which is directed by JoAnn Orpen.  The special speaker is Colonel John P. Rydland, who spent a lot of time in the Battle Lake area during his formative years. Everyone is asked to pause for a minute of silence at 3 p.m. in remembrance of all deceased veterans. There is also a Nationwide movement to have trumpet players sound Taps at that time.
Thank you to our Veterans and their families!
