Four Battle Lake Speakers head to the State Tournament!
Battle Lake Speech Team has had a very successful 2026 season. This is a really great group of speakers who are a joy to coach and who have been practicing hard, and performing really well. Thirteen Battlers competed at sections. Nine of those speakers made it to section finals. Four students ended in the top three, moving on to the MSHSL State Speech Tournament on April 25 at Park Center High School in Brooklyn Park. Graycie Cameron , was section champion in Original Oratory, Nelson Hubert received third place in Discussion, Jack Robinson took second in Storytelling, and Fred Scott placed third in Humorous Interpretation. Section finalists were Junior Foster Foster-Faaaliga, Quinn Hagemeister, Ivy Fronning, Ethan Sonju, and Erik Stans. Coaches Kjersten Lukken and Kate Scherfenberg are very proud of every Battle Lake Speaker for their work and growth this season.
