The Kindergarten classes enjoyed a walk on the bike path to visit the residents at Good Samaritan Society - Battle Lake and delivered a special surprise. The students created placemats for the residents to enjoy in their dining room.
It was a great day to meet new friends! Mrs. Kugler's kindergarten students hosted their Henning penpals today. The students exchanged letters during the school year and today they got to meet in person! What an exciting afternoon!
The Battle Lake and Henning kindergarten students have teamed up to be penpals this year. After writing letters back-and-forth, they finally got to meet each other today! They did a craft together and had some time to play and get to know one another. It was a fun afternoon!

There will be a CPR refresher class and Basic First Aid class held this spring. CPR will be held on April 17th from 6-8 pm and First Aid will be on April 28th from 6-8 pm. Both classes will be in the health room. Please email or call the Battle Lake Community Ed office to register.
Students in Mr. Ukkelberg's Natural Resources class have been experimenting with energy sources. Throughout the energy unit they have made wind turbines, solar ovens, and hydraulic generators from scratch.
They rounded out their unit last week by making bio-diesel and got to have a little fun by using the bio-diesel to power their pop-pop steam boats!

Battle Lake Speech won second place in the Subsection 22 Speech Meet on April 9th in Underwood. We had nineteen students compete with eighteen moving on to compete in the Section 6A meet this Saturday, April 12 in Menahga. Kate Scherfenberg was also voted subsection 22 coach of the year. Congratulations Battle Lake Speech. We have an incredibly talented group of kids!

Calling band Alum! The band is looking for community members who play a band instrument for our memorial day program! It will take place on May 26th, with a dress rehearsal at 9:00 am and the program at 11 am! If interested please reach out to Zeb Biles at zbiles@isd542.org.
