Four Battle Lake 6th grade students had the opportunity to participate in the Regional MN History Day competition at St. Cloud State University on Saturday, March 29.
During this project, students create an interdisciplinary research project. The students took a deep dive into the research and the presentation of a historical topic using the given theme. This year the theme was Rights and Responsibilities.
Kaylee Kerzman and Emma Kraemer did a group exhibition focusing on Title IX and what it did for women’s sports. Sam Nelson created an exhibit about D-Day and the planning general’s need to balance rights and responsibilities. Eli Wedeking created an individual performance focusing on the Voting Rights Act of 1965.
Aside from creating their projects, they were all interviewed by historians regarding their projects and research.
These four students learned a lot, worked hard, and were excellent representatives of the Battle Lake community.
The MN State Competition will take place April 27th and Eli Wedeking qualified to compete with his Performance!

Battler Staff & Families Battle Lake Public School will be on a 2-hour late start schedule on Thurs., April 3rd.
There will be a CPR refresher class and Basic First Aid class held this spring. CPR will be held on April 17th from 6-8 pm and First Aid will be on April 28th from 6-8 pm. Both classes will be in the health room. Please email or call the Battle Lake Community Ed office to register.

Twenty-five students from Battle Lake High School participated in the annual MN Business Professionals of America (BPA) State Leadership Conference March 6-8, 2025. With more than 1,600 members competing, thirteen students finaled, with four advancing to the National Leadership Conference to compete in May - take a look!
